A man in a blond wig, sunglasses and a baseball cap robbed a bank in Volo at gunpoint Wednesday, according to officials with the Lake County sheriff’s office.
No one was injured in the robbery, Lt. Thomas Braze said.
A man walked into the State Bank and Trust on the 27000 block of Old Volo Village Road and handed a note to a bank teller demanding money.
Braze said the man showed a gun, and the teller handed over an unspecified amount of money. The robber then left the bank. Police were called at 2:38 p.m., he said.
“He had left the area on foot,” Braze said, adding there was no description of a car, but said he wouldn’t be surprised to learn there was one involved in the robbery.
The robber was described as wearing green sunglasses, a wig, a black or blue baseball cap, a green T-shirt under a flannel shirt and blue jeans, Braze said. Estimates put the man at about 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing between 170 and 180 pounds.
Lakemoor police are helping in the investigation, and Braze said police are looking for possible witnesses or people who know something about the robber or the crime.
“If anybody has any information, we would welcome (it),” Braze said.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s detective division at (847) 377-4250.
