From the Volo Auto Museum website:
VOLO - Pack up the family - and don't forget your camera - and head out to the world-famous Volo Auto Museum June 30 and July 1, 2007.
Hollywood legend George Barris, creator of the Batmobile, will be on hand throughout the weekend with his Star Car collection, including an original Batmobile from the '60s TV series, which is on permanent display at the museum. Kids can have their pictures taken with Batman and Robin, sit in the Flintstones Mobile or climb into Michael Andretti's Indy 500 race car.
Visitors will see the world's largest and most incredible "Terminator" tribute. And, for the first time ever, check out an entire collection of Herbies used in "Herbie, Fully Loaded" with Lindsay Lohan.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and general admission is $11 Saturday, June 30, and $14 Sunday, July 1. The museum is at 27582 W. Volo Village Road, Volo, IL.
On Sunday, July 1, the Volo Auto Museum hosts a huge car show featuring everything from classics to customs, Shelbies and Cobras. At approximately 1 p.m., Barris will unveil a $2.8 million "car from the future" that was never supposed to have been revealed to the public.
Bobby's Barrel Inn of Volo will offer food for purchase. Music will play and a beer garden will be open.
Batmobile fans will have a chance to purchase a highly collectible, new, limited edition Mattel Hot Wheels Batmobile, packaged with a certificate, the Barris Kustom seal and Barris' signature!
The Shelby-Ford-Cobra Show originally scheduled for June 3 (postponed due to poor weather) also will be July 1. And these incredible cars will be joined by vintage, muscle and customs of all kinds signed up for the Barris All-Collector Car Show. From the elegant curves of the Cobra to the brawny stance of a Mustang fastback to the stellar lines of a tricked-out rod, all will be on view Sunday, July 1, at the Volo Auto Museum.
"This is a can't-miss show," said museum owner Greg Grams. "There's going to be so much to see, you won't want to be anywhere else."
Those attending also will have the opportunity to:
* See on display Volo's latest Hollywood car - the 1989 Lotus Esprit driven by Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman."
* Check out all of the museum's newly added cars, including the "Miami Vice" Daytona Spyder - the actual car driven by Don Johnson in the phenomenal '80s television series.
* Thrill to the Combat Zone. See the latest additions, including one of two known War wagons in the country - armed with six 50-caliber guns. Also on view is an actual Messerschmitt cockpit from WWII in an all-new aviation exhibit!
* And, of course, see Barris, a down-to-earth guy who always has a great story or two at hand.
The July 1 show will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (museum closes at 5 p.m.) and will feature 20 awards. The event also is drawing Bill "Mad Maxx" Maxwell, creator of the incredible Terminator truck, which will be on display throughout the weekend.
On Saturday morning, see the crew from WKRS Radio Station's Garage Talk show as they air live from the grounds. On Sunday, see Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio show hosts Capt'n Bob and Arlo and an expected 250 to 300 collector cars of all kinds (pre-1977 only).
In addition, five-time U.S. and eight-time Wisconsin power lifting champion Richard "Lucky" Luckman will demonstrate his incredible strength, and kulture artist Biz-mon of Unauthorized Graphics will display his talents, as will classic car and landscape artist Peter Secker.
Summer kicks in to high gear June 30 and July 1 at the Volo Auto Museum, where the celebration of America's love of the automobile is always ongoing.
