From the 6/14/07 Lake County Journal:
Volo plans special census this fall
Due to a substantial increase in housing construction, the village of Volo believes that the population has grown sufficiently enough to warrant a Special Census in September.
Since State income tax and motor fuel tax is based on per capita distribution, an increase in Volo's population means substantial increased revenues, officials said. This additional revenue is helpful to pay for necessary services as well as holding the line on property tax bills.
The village urges residents to cooperate with the U.S. Census Bureau and census workers so that an accurate population count may be taken.
Workers are needed to conduct the census. Anyone who is 18 years of age, or 16 with a high school diploma, is eligible to apply. All successful applicants will be paid $11 to $16 per hour during the estimated 20 to 25 day period of the Special Census.
Anyone interested in applying may call the Volo Village Hall at (815) 344-4471 for additional information, or visit Volo Village Hall, 27273 W. Volo Village Road, Volo, 60073.
