Poll issue

I realized that I left out "In Volo" on the poll question. It won't let me edit it since there's been responses, so I apologize. As for the person that only works 1-10 miles away, how can I get a job with your company??!! :-) I'm part of the 20-29 group (Volo to Northbrook) and my hair gets grayer every day!!

Here is what's on my mind right now:
- Will Starbucks open this month?
- When will the sign for Volo Village Corner Market change from Spring 2008 to 2009?
- Could the road conditions on Route 12 get any worse right now, especially through Lake Zurich?
- Will the Long Lake Metra project EVER get off the ground? I saw a For Sale sign next to the land that was supposed to be earmarked for the new parking lot, so that wasn't a good sign.
- How nice it is to see all the green sprouting up around town. I need to get to the Depot to get stuff for the planter!

What's on your mind?

I will be commuting from Volo to Deerfield, my husband to Nortbrook.
What suggestions do you have? What should we expect?

My suggestion - find a job closer to home! :-)

I will be totally honest with you. You never know what's going to happen from day to day. I work at Lake Cook and Pfingsten and some days it takes me 45 minutes, others an hour and a half. On average, it takes me about an hour. You have a lot of different ways to go, but there isn't one that's better than the other. My route to Northbrook lately has been 12 to Old McHenry to 22 to 83 to Deerfield Rd to Milwaukee to Lake Cook to Pfingsten. Sometimes I'll cut through the industrial complex but the roads are in such bad shape until later this year, I tend to avoid it. But then of course I run into the construction at Lake Cook and 94. Going home I generally take 94 to 137 to 60 to Wilson to Nippersink and it's usually better, although Lake Cook is a mess again because of the construction.

Taking 94 in the morning isn't good right now either because THAT is under construction. The best way to 94 is usually Peterson/137. 60 is bad, 120 is bad.

I've also taken 12 all the way down to Lake Cook but roads in Lake Zurich are in bad shape and it gets backed up between Ela and Quentin a lot of times.

Depending on where in Deerfield and Northbrook you're working, there is ALSO a Metra option. You can get on at Ingleside, Long Lake, or Round Lake and get off at Deerfield, Lake Cook Road, or Northbrook. Depending on where you work, there might be a Pace shuttle bus. I like doing that every now and then but the train times aren't always convenient.

This was probably more than you wanted to know, but until I can find a job in Volo, Wauconda, Round Lake, Barrington, Lake Zurich or Deer Park - this will have to do :-)

To answer your questions and more:

1) Starbucks will be open by Memorial Day.

2) Long Lake Metra project is on hold.

3) Volo Village Corner Marketplace likely won't happen until Volo Village Marketplace is underway.

4) How come you haven't posted yet about Foxxy Nail Spa coming soon next to Starbucks?

5) How come you haven't posted yet about the 4/2008 update to stores potentially coming to Volo Village Marketplace? Specifically, here's what I've seen:

Lease Out to the following:

Target, Best Buy, Petsmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, 5/3 Bank, Famous Footwear, Hair Cuttery,

Proposal Out to the following:

Buffalo Wild Wings, Marshalls, Linens N Things, McDonalds, Verizon, Great Clips, Subway, Massage Envy, Payless, Lane Bryant, Kay, Maurice's, Justice, Bath & Body Works, Sally Beauty

I didn't see the Foxxy Nail Spa sign on the window next to Starbucks until this morning.

I checked MidAmerica Group's site today and didn't see any update from 4/08. Where did you get that information?

Thanks for the info! I do find it interesting that they want to add another Hair Cuttery (12 and 134), and McDonald's (12 and 120). I'm guessing these would be moves for both of them. BWW would be awesome. The one in RLB isn't too far but it'd be great when I'm in the mood for Buzztime Trivia :-)

I was thinking Gilmer to 83 to 22 to Riverwoods to Deerfield Road.
Metra is another option. We will be in Symphony Meadows. Which train station is closest?

I'd say Round Lake is your best bet as far as Metra is concerned.

Gilmer to 83 is another option, but Gilmer tends to back up all the way past Diamond Lake Road because everyone is trying to turn right onto 83. 22 over I-94 can also be a tricky proposition, especially with 60 all torn up a few miles to the north. What it really comes down to is trying to find the best of the worst.

Yes, you're correct, as far as McDonald's goes, that would be a move out of gas station into a full size location.

I think that location is perfect for a BWW, without a doubt that would be overflowing with customers all the time.

Based on several of the confirmed and proposed stores, it looks similar to the McHenry/Johnsburg retail site with Best Buy, Dick's, Petsmart, Kay, Justice, etc.

Although, just be glad they didn't already start building out a Wickes Furniture store. That would've looked nice, large, and empty.

Lastly, have you noticed how there's now construction trailers on site there and a couple of dozers? I've seen the one working in the section they're grading, but it's funny since it's almost like they're toying with everyone by having a couple dozers there and moving them around to look like something is happening. LOL!
