Update on Volo Village Marketplace

This was previously posted in an earlier comment, so I thought I'd elaborate a bit more in a posting. Below is a listing of stores currently under consideration. This list is as of 4/2/08, but I've contacted one of the leasing agents to get a more accurate list. If I do, I'll update as needed. These stores all are set for Phase I, which is supposed to be completed in Fall 2009:

LEASE OUT:
Target, Petsmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Fifth Third Bank, Famous Footwear, Hair Cuttery

PROPOSAL OUT:
Bath & Body Works, Justice!, Maurice's, Kay Jewelers, Lane Bryant, Sally Beauty Supply, Payless, Massage Envy, Subway, Great Clips, Verizon, Linens N Things, Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonald's

There's also a proposal out for one of the parcels in Phase 2, but it is yet to be identified.

The developer mentioned that construction was scheduled to begin in June, however, I see no sign of that. Also, I'm sure there will be a groundbreaking ceremony when it begins, and there's no mention of that on any meeting agendas.

However, here are a few updates:

1) 1 bull dozer was removed from the site (there were 2, now only 1)

2) The construction trailer appears to have had it's phone line connected to the main phone lines on Gilmer now.

3) The Shops at Lakemoor sign is back, however, progress is not. Their website has officially removed any reference of a Walmart or any other stores previously listed.

4) Olive Garden appears to be coming to McHenry in front of Dick's Sporting Goods. This is good since there will be one closer now, but that likely eliminates one coming to Volo since those restaurants tend to be rather spaced out a bit unlike Chilis and Applebees.

Well, I noticed driving by the Volo Village Marketplace site today that the construction trailers have now been removed from the site.

Doesn't sound good for anything in the near future.

based on some inside knowledge, my guess is that whoever the anchor tenants are that are now signed probably want to delay opening, probably setting back the construction schedule. I've have recently seen this happen on another high profile retail job in Lake County. Job will get done, but not as fast as orginally thought due to main anchors wanting to delay their openings
