Slow day

Just like the forward motion of projects in town, it's been slow here at the blog this week.

I do have a gripe about the Village website, though. Updates to agendas and meeting minutes has been really bad the last month or two. I'm sure minutes have been approved since April 8. No July meeting agendas have been posted. I really like Round Lake's Meetings site : http://eroundlake.com/meetings.asp It lets you choose the date range and then will list all the meetings for that month. There are then columns next to each meeting for the agenda, the minutes, and the audio. It just seems to be maintained more frequently. Seeing that not a lot is going on, I don't see why someone can't take 10 minutes to keep the agendas and minutes pages up to date.

Strongly agree with you!

The Village website has been extremely slow throughout all of 2008 to date. A village rep mentioned that the move from the old to new village hall was slowing things down, however, they moved in 6-8 weeks ago, so what's the problem now?

With the exception of Lakemoor, all the surrounding villages are way ahead in web updates for their sites.

Lakemoor has always been slow to post their minutes or agendas. I just don't think they have the right people that are savvy enough on the computers. Besides that, i really don't think they have anything exciting happening anyway. Same with Volo, all the large projects seem to be dead at this point.

I agree.

By delaying the availability of information, the village is only creating confusion among the population. It is a responsibility of the village reps to make sure the community is well aware of meeting discussions. If they can not do this, then get off the committee and go to the library where you can borrow a book and learn how to use a computer. The development of Volo and further expansion of Chicago suburbs only means that more politically-active individuals are moving into your communities. As a warning to the village, you might have gotten away with inept leadership for many years but a new voice is rising in Volo. You decided to allow for residential zoning now take accountability and meet the demands of your citizens. Trust me, it is not that hard to post a adobe document on an internet website.

Furthermore, I want to see the minutes even more if the large projects are at a standstill and nothing exciting is happening. Sure, the new town hall is nice but are you actually doing any work in there or just enjoying the new perks. By providing the minutes.

Oh, and I want a Chipotle, too!!

Has anyone asked them why they haven't been posting the minutes?
