Poll results

Well it looks like most people take Metra out of Round Lake, which is about to lose 1/3 of its parking temporarily to support a future expansion. So that means people are going to be fighting for the 80 or so spaces at both Long Lake and Ingleside! Better get there by 6 a.m.!

I'm going to be on vacation, so I'll post the next poll question when I get back! Maybe there'll actually be some progress on some of the projects allegedly going on around here. Although of course, now the Big Hollow lot on the corner of 12 and 134 is for sale again, so I doubt it!

I'm moving to Volo around November so hopefully the construction won't take too long. I guess Grayslake is an option too. Wouldn't it be cool if Metra had "universal" monthly parking passes? That way you could park at any station without coming up with $1.50 or whatever? Then again, Metra and innovation are not two words that go together :)

The construction was supposed to start in August, but just like everything else, it doesn't seem to be starting on time. They said 3 months, but I'm sure they want to get it finished before winter.

I think it makes perfect sense to have passes that serve multiple stations, especially because they do operate multiple lots on the system. A lot of stations have upgraded their technology and gone with debit cards or electronic fare collections with receipts. Unfortunately, most stations on the Milw-N line still employ the yellow fare box method. But hey, as long as I can continue enjoying free parking on the weekends, I don't mind plunking a few quarters into a rusty old box :-)
