Resurfacing?

Everything I've been reading on IDOT's website refers to the resurfacing of 12/59 through Volo at a cost of over 3 million (approximately the same cost as the resurfacing project going on further south through North Barrington and Lake Zurich); however, what I've been seeing so far on the north side of the road in Volo has merely been more band-aids. What gives?

it also seems as if they're resurfacing route 60 from 120 except for the intersection at fish lake, which desperately needs to be updated. not sure if there's a stop light or just a larger stop sign intersection going up...

60 and Fish Lake is a separate project (which seems to be taking forever) so IDOT is skipping over that section.

I requested info from the village on the Rt 60 and Fish Lake improvements back in May and was told that "things were happening soon".
Getting pretty tired of going throung a half completed intersection everyday.

i just emailed IDOT from their website asking about Fish Lake & Rt 60, we'll see how long that takes to get a reply...

I am reasonably certain Fish Lake & 60 and Fish Lake & 120 are not IDOT projects nor do they appear on the Lake County Dept of Transportation website. I am pretty sure these are village projects which is why it is taking them so long to be completed.

this was the reply from the village when i emailed them:

Thank you for visiting the Village of Volo website.

It is possible that the 60 intersection could be completed this construction season.

IDOT has not issued a permit to complete the 120 intersection as of yet.

Sincerely,

Village of Volo

update: I emailed IDOT about this and got a reply:

The intersection improvements at IL 60 and Fish Lake Road are being performed via a permit issued to the Village of Volo near the end of Summer 2008. Road work began shortly thereafter, but was suspended later in the year due to a utility conflict and the on-set of winter. Since then the Village has been involved in litigation concerning a previously unidentified lien that was discovered on the property where the utility is to be relocated. The Village recently indicated that they are near resolution of this litigation and they expect to complete the utility relocation this fall and then the roadway and traffic signal work next spring barring unforeseen circumstances. Since the Village’s permit included re-surfacing of IL 60 throughout the limits of their improvement it was omitted from the Department’s re-surfacing project. The Village of Volo has plans to work on the intersection in conjunction with the construction of their new Village Hall. The Village should be able to provide details on the time frame for their construction. The Village can be reached at 847/740-6982.

Very interesting - thanks for sharing, sma.

It's nice to see that resurfacing has commenced on 12 and that the patching work they did first was not a trick. They seem to be moving along pretty quickly and have a first layer down already on the north side of the street.

Ok, so the resurfacing is pretty much done now.

Has this site been discontinued? We have the following happening with no updates here:

Jimmy John's going in next to Verizon in front of Home Depot.

A 4 story senior living facility at Nippersink and Rt 134 which is now underway and is similar to the one in The Glen area of Glenview

A Thornton's gas station approved at Volo Village Rd & Rt 12

Route 120 Council officially voted in favor of a 4 lane limited access highway this week from Volo to I-94 and is now being sent to state for next steps.

Things are finally starting to heat up a bit with the economy beginning to come back to life and no updates?

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard of any of those things happening other than the proposed Thornton's.
