Vote for Advocate!

Yesterday, the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board held a hearing regarding the proposed Advocate hospital at the southwest corner of Route 120 and Wilson. The majority of the communities in west/northwest Lake County support Advocate's plan over Vista's competing plan to build a new hospital in Lindenhurst. Over the next several months, the Planning Board will determine which plan to accept (they would only accept one - and possibly neither).

My personal opinion is to build the Advocate hospital, and not just because it's only 10 minutes from my home. Advocate's reputation is very strong, with some of the best hospitals in the area (Lutheran General, Good Shepherd). I was employed by Advocate in the late 1990's and their staff of over 20,000 would be augmented by 1,000 new jobs and the economy of western Lake County would improve. Plus, if the 120 bypass ever gets built, it would be very conveniently located.
