Fish Lake/60 Construction Beginning

The Village website reports that the intersection of 60 & Fish Lake Road will be under construction for the next few months for the intersection improvement project. As much as I'd rather there not be a signal there, I think it's a good idea and I look forward to not having to fear for my life crossing over 60!

I confess that I am not a fan of increased signalization, mostly because I feel it "slows me down" which of course is the intent.

But with the population growth in this area, more traffic management is definitely warranted. Many people won't just slow down and let someone turn into their traffic unless prompted to do so by a traffic device such as a signal, stop sign etc.

I hope the signal will at least be equipped with sensors and remain "green" for Rt. 60 if there are no cars waiting at Fish Lake.

I'm getting kind of sick of all these new signals. We still live in a sparsely populated area, and I hardly ever see any cars on Fish Lake Rd. It's already getting annoying taking Gilmer to work - I like how they got rid of the light at Fairfield to improve traffic flow, and then added 3 more lights where, IMHO, they didn't need them.

I feel like people's problems with merging during rush hour is that they don't take the space that's given to them. If I leave a half car length for someone to get in, I expect him to at least inch forward and start merging - if he doesn't move, I'm not going to sit there and wave at him - I have places to be. =)
